Progressive lenses are special lenses with multiple focusing points built in to the lenses. These lenses allow us to see far, intermediate, and near clearly. So that our eyes can function like they are young again.
When fitting these specialty lenses, it is really about understanding your visual and lifestyle needs, so that we can find a lens design that works for you! We have over time developed our way of placing the right progressive lens on the right patients and we have become really good at it.
We have seen many patients who were initially skeptical about progressive lenses, to becoming advocates. I am sure you will be one of our advocates too.
Each of us has quite different demands for our vision, while some may demand crisp, sharp, and bring vision, others need a more comfortable and easier on the eyes kind of vision.
So it is our job to determine the optimized eye prescription for you.
We need to understand you, your office environment, your reading habits, hobbies, and your preference of spectacle design. These are important information for us to marry the right frame with the right lens, to suit your needs.
The right frame choice will personify ones' character and value. These are criteria we keep in mind while helping you to choose your favorite pair:
1. Comfort. You are likely to wear your pair for more than 12 hours a day, every day, so we want them to be as comfortable as possible
2. Frame Depth. We need the frame to be of a certain depth so that you can enjoy the full benefit of the progressive lens. So fame can be small, but not too small. We will guide your selection.
3. With adjustable nose pads. This allows us to make some adjustments, to help fine-tune to bring the progressive lens performance to perfection.
Like there many different types of car models on the road. There are very wide range of progressive lenses, offering different designs and features.
Some prioritize distance vision, some prioritize computer usage, others prioritize sporting activities.
Progressive lenses can cost more, but a well-fitted pair that can bring convenience and take the strain from your eyes is definitely worth it.
It is our job to understand and test drive different designs so that we can help choose a design that is most suitable for you.
This is a very important, step we need to ensure that the frame is correctly adjusted so that it sits comfortably on your face.
We will carefully assess how the frame is sitting, what is the height, its angle, how far it is from your eyes, etc. Several readings will be recorded and for the lens design.
We will work with the lab to ensure we get the lenses to the precise specification that we want.
We will teach you how to use the lens, what to expect, what is normal, and whatnot. An initial adaption period is required for the brain to learn how to use this new eyewear. This is normal and expected, like getting used to a new car.
At this point, we will make the final adjustment to the frame if required.
And you are all set to take it home for a test drive!
Checking in after a week or two.
At this point, you should have given enough time for your eyes to get used to the glasses. We just want to make sure you are doing well and see how we can be of further assistance.
